According to Webster's Dictionary the word date simply means to make an appointment with someone. That may be easier said than done! I find many young people really struggle with where to go and what to do on date.
BBQ on the beach; in your back yard; at your local park; during winter; pick a place on a map and drive there to BBQ; BBQ at a conservation area; have a BBQ potluck; create your own BBQ sauce.
Carve a watermelon into tiny sculptures; have a seed-spitting contest; have a watermelon party.
Walk down every street in your neighbourhood and record it on a map; walk through every local park trail you can get to and complete in less thn two hours; walk by the full moon; take a walk at sunrise; take a walk barefoot; walk in the rain; walk the Trans Canada Trail.
Have a bubble gum chewing contest; Write your own poetry; read old and modern poetry to each other; read your favourite book to each other; read the daily news to each other; draw a picture together.
Volunteer together at an animal shelter and walk dogs together; go bird watching together; teach your dog a new trick; build a bird feeder together; build a model toy together; do a crossword puzzle together; play cards; play board games; play video games together; play Charades; play basketball; throw darts; play touch tag; hide and seek.
Make your own post cards; bake bread together; cook a meal for your parents together; make your own pizza; dedicate a song on radio; visit a different shopping mall every week; wander through old cemeteries together; do spring cleaning for a senior; plant an indoor herb garden together; borrow books, videos from local library; go on a picnic in a park, or at the beach, on top of a building, on a downtown bench, in your back yard, or in the wilderness.
Go to a parade; local rally; help build a float. play frisbee; play horseshoes together; play street hockey.
Make a list of the top ten things you would like to do and exchange your list with your date; build a sand sculpture; build an ice sculpture or with snow; pick up garbage at a local park or along a road; go outdoor ice skating; build a snow fort; Learn sign language or another language.
Visit the children's ward at your local hospital; serve together in a soup kitchen; help at a food bank; visit a shut-in; exercise together; visit all your coffee shops in your neighbourhood; skip rocks across still waters; start a collection together such as coins, stamps, cards, pins.
Light candles and float them in your pool or local river; blow soap bubbles from your balcony, in the park or on the main street of your town; go people watching at an airport, bus station, shopping malls, park bench, boardwalks, train station, city center, beach, hotel lobby, college or university campus.
Have a camp fire; study the stars together; collect bottles and cans to save money fora special date; make each other laugh at least 10 times on a date (children laugh 400 times a day).
Buy a season's pass to Canada's Wonderland or Theme park nearest you. It's a great way to spend the entire day with friends.
Spend the day at Niagara Falls or bike between Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Dinner and a movie. If dinner is too expensive, go to a coffee shop after the movie.
Drive to largest shopping mall within a fifty mile radius and spend the day there.
Go to a concert of one of your favourite artists.
Spend the day at a water park.
Take the ferry to Centre Island and spend the day there on the rides, beaches and food kiosks.
Take the bus to the West Edmonton Mall and enjoy the waterpark, indoor ride, food and shopping.
CNE is open for 2 weeks at the end of summer in Toronto.
